Releaseparty, the Varnish HTTP accelerator
VG sponsored the creation of a web-accellerator called "Varnish" because Squid was too slow for them. Varnish is being developed by Poul-Henning Kamp and the Norwegian Linux consultancy Linpro. This is the releaseparty for version 1.0. The first half of the talk will introduce Varnish and present some of the novel features it brings to the business of web-serving. The second half of the talk, using Varnish as the example, will show ways to get the most performance out of modern hardware and operating systems.
